ABOUT COLDSUN PRODUCTIONS
Our background in traveling, journalism and music deeply influenced our approach to storytelling.
Since 2007 we create and produce documentaries and branded films. ColdSun is based in the Netherlands and is founded by Alessio Cuomo and Sander de Nooij; two traveling musicians who ended up as filmmakers. Between editing and filming, there is always a guitar within reach, because outside of making films, we love making music. We believe that the mesmerizing combination of FILM and MUSIC can truly touch the human spirit.
Over the years, ColdSun has built a strong network of skilled professionals around the globe who have broadened our perspective and enriched our films.
With a background in journalism and work experience in Europe, The United States, South America, Asia and Africa, our work is often characterized by a strong social engagement and love for telling soulful stories. We are passionate about telling stories that illuminate the complex and often unseen aspects of the human condition, and strive to create work that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.
We take pride in our ability to work with a diverse range of subjects and to tell stories that are both intimate and universal. Our first documentary, co-produced by Column film, was Cuba RebelióN, about Cuban protest singers who rebel against the Castro regime. In 2013 we directed the documentary Gesso - the Art of Street Painting, about the worldwide movement of pavement art. The documentary follows six street painters around the world.
Recently Alessio Cuomo directed the series Rudi, Haunted by 9/11 for Dutch streaming service Videoland and Ode to the Journey for Mastercard, for which he won the Jury Prize and the Public Choice award of the Aad Struijs Press Prize for best travel video.
Over the years we worked for clients like the Red Cross, Videoland, MasterCard, Philips, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and many more.
