ColdSun Productions is founded by the Dutch/Italian filmmaker Alessio Cuomo. He studied at the School of Journalism in Utrecht, The Netherlands. During his study he quickly developed a natural hunger to explore all aspects of the world of filmmaking and documentaries. His work is characterized by a strong social engagement.

After his internship at NOVA, a Dutch current affairs programme, he started his career as a freelance news reporter for several national and international TV stations such as RTV Utrecht, RVU and BBC World.

In 2008 Alessio Cuomo and Sander the Nooij directed the documentary Cuba RebelióN. A film about Cuban protest singers who rebel against the Castro regime. Besides documentaries Cuomo has also build up a body of work in the corporate market. The past years have seen the company produce a wide range of commercials and corporate films for clients such as Red Cross, Philips, DJ Armin van Buuren, Entertainment One, Samsung and Cushman & Wakefield.

In 2013 he made the documentary Gesso, the Art of Street Painting, about the worldwide movement of pavement art. The documentary follows six street painters around the world.

For his film projects Cuomo filmed in countries such as Cuba, USA, Syria, Lebanon, Russia, Argentina, Mexico, Italy and many more. Making documentaries is Alessio’s passion. One of the company’s greatest strengths therefore lies in capturing stories with a meaning.
